Alex Cox’s wife, Zulema Pastenes, came forward as the witness during Chad Daybell’s 18th day of trial, which occurred on May 7, 2024. For your information, Chad is indicted in the homicide of his first spouse, Tammy Daybell, and his two step-children, JJ and Tyle.

While testifying, Zulema revealed several details regarding Chad and his current wife, Lori’s fringe religious beliefs.

Further, in prosecutor Lindsey Blake’s curiosities about JJ’s passing, she responded by saying, “Chad said that J.J. was going to die young, that he was probably going to die soon, and he was going to come right back to earth as Colby’s son.”

Zulema also hinted that Chad and his partner had already anticipated Tyle’s demise.

In this regard, she recalled the moment when she questioned Lori about Tyle’s whereabouts and said, “I asked her (Lori), I said, Hey, where’s Tylee? And she said, well, she had to be free. Meaning Tylee had to be free.”

Netizens found every testimony she gave during Chad’s trial suspicious and strange. Whatever the matter, it cannot be denied that her presence in such a high-profile case dragged her into the limelight again.

As mentioned in IMDb, Zulema Pastenes debuted on television as Alex Cox’s wife in 2021 in the TV series Dateline NBC. After that, she appeared in the mini-series Sins of Our Mother and 20/20.

Her husband, Alex, shot his sister Lori’s ex-husband, Charles Vallow, back in July 2019 but was proven innocent in the case later. He defended himself in court, saying that he used the gun in self-defense.

He was also one of the suspects in Chad’s ex-wife Tammy Daybell’s case, who, a day before dying, called 911 and complained that someone had tried to shoot her.

A month after the incident, Alex got hitched to Zulema, an employment coach. The couple met in late 2018 and shared an engagement ring almost a year later, on November 7, 2019.

On December 1, the two walked down the aisle in Las Vegas, but within 10 days, Alex suddenly lost his life. Since then, Zulema has been living her life as the widow of Alex Cox.
