UmaSofia Srivastava was thrilled to win Miss NJ Teen USA as the first Indian-Mexican but recently bowed out from the title; why so?

As mentioned on Facebook, Umasofia Srivastava's mother, Barbara is a teacher at All Saints Academy Parsippany and her father Sanjay works at New York Life Insurance Company.

In September 2023, UmaSofia Srivastava became the first Indian-Mexican lady to hold the Miss New Jersey Teen USA title. She was completely overjoyed with her achievement and didn’t hesitate to share her happiness on her social media handle.

She wrote, “I am so grateful and honored that I’m the first Mexican-Indian, first New Jersey, your MISS TEEN USA 2023!!!This night is truly the best night of my life.”

Similarly, UmaSofia also expressed her gratitude towards every person who became a crucial part of her journey, including her parents, Barbara Srivastava and Sanjay Srivastava.

Eight months have passed since she became Miss Teen, and UmaSofia has already stepped down from the title, stating that her ‘personal values didn’t align with the direction of the organization.’ At the same time, she is also seen cherishing her association with Miss Teen USA.

But the quote she exerted at the beginning of the post appears to hint at something else. She begins with Freidrich Nietzsche’s saying, ‘There are no beautiful surfaces without a terrible depth.’ So, what’s the truth?

UmaSofia Srivastava appears to resign from the title due to Miss USA’s toxic environment

Some four days before UmaSofia’s resignation, Claudia Michelle, the Social Media Director for Miss USA, had resigned from her role in the organization.

In the post, she emphasizes the toxicity UmaSofia faced during her association with Miss USA. She wrote, “I have firsthand seen the disrespect towards Uma and her family. In my opinion, not enough time and attention was given to our national teen titleholder, especially on social media.”

Further, UmaSofia reportedly had been bullied by the organization. Her condition was so bad that her parents, Sanjay and Barbara, even stopped Miss USA Organization president Layla Rose from meeting with her, the New York Post reports.

Sources say her parents even took the matter to the Miss Universe Organization, hoping something would change, but nothing happened.

UmaSofia Srivastava now aspired to become a writer and advocator

The former Miss Teen New Jersey is absolutely hopeful about her upcoming days. While announcing her retirement, UmaSofia revealed her aspiration to broaden her horizons in her writing career.

She equally discussed her academic priorities and promised her well-wishers to give continuity in her advocacy for education and acceptance.

Just a month ago, UmaSofia shared a lovey-dovey picture with her boyfriend, baseball player Alex Martinez. The two recently attended a prom together and appear to be head over heels in love.
