Lately, budding racing driver Nolan Siegel has been in the media headlines for signing a multi-year contract with Arrow McLaren. He is just 20, and having achieved that level must have made his parents absolutely proud of him.
Nolan Siegel was born on November 8, 2004, to his parents, father Mark Siegel and mother Annette Cholon Siegel, who are both big achievers. His father, Mark Siegel, is a successful venture capitalist.
After graduating with a BS in physics and electrical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1990, Mark began his career as a director of product management at Oracle Corporation.
Since 1996, Nolan’s father has been a managing director at Menlo Ventures, which ‘manages over $5.5 billion of assets.’
Likewise, his mother, Annette Cholon Siegel, is a plastic surgeon. She earned her medical degree from Stanford.
Parents of Nolan Siegel established an endowed fund in 2007 to support bright students financially
As the MIT Technological Review mentioned, Nolan’s parents initiated an endowed fund, the Mark and Annette Siegel Fund, to support graduate students in MIT’s physics department.
In this regard, Mark has said, “We wanted to provide an education to the best and brightest people in the world.“
According to Mark, he and his wife Annette would not have graduated from college if they had not received a scholarship.
So, they deeply believed that financial matters shouldn’t hinder any bright individual from pursuing education and rising to the top.
In Mark’s words, helping others realize their dreams was a complete reward for him and his wife. With that, they stepped into philanthropy.
Over the years, the couple, especially Annette, has donated to organizations like the Kenneth Young Centre, Haarbor Inc., 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, and many others; her Facebook is evidence of this.
