Macklemore has been vocal about his pro-Palestine thoughts and has actively participated in rallies demanding a ceasefire in Palestine, as the rapper imagines how his kids would feel if they were the ones in the war.
One of the most heated topics that created controversy was his 2014 costume for the opening night of an exhibition at Seattle’s EMP Museum.

Macklemore wore a random costume consisting of a fake witch nose, wig, and beard depicting “The Happy Merchant” meme, which later got a tag such as “stereotypical Jewish” or “an anti-Semitic Jew costume” theme.
However, the rapper clarified that the costume contained no offensive messages and was not his idea of a stereotype of anybody.
Macklemore has no link with Jewish or Palestine as his parents are of Irish heritage and catholic
Born Benjamin Hammond Haggerty, the rapper adapted his stage name Macklemore at 17, initially with Professor as the prefix, but he later dropped it.
Macklemore was born in Seattle, Washington, on June 19, 1983, to parents Bill Haggerty and Julie Schott.
He was raised alongside his brother, Tim, with catholic idealism from his social worker mother, who taught the boys to support differences.
He mentioned that he is of Irish heritage and American nationality. Macklemore’s support for the Palestinian victim is an act of humanity, demonstrating that “every life matters.“
Moreover, Macklemore’s ancestry shows he belongs to a white ethnicity, and he calls his religious beliefs Roman Catholic.
As for his marital life, Macklemore married his wife, Tricia Katherine Davis, a music video producer and artist manager from the United States.
She is of white ethnicity, so Macklemore has no reason to choose a side in the ongoing war.
He is a proud father to his three children: Sloane, the eldest; Coletta Koala, aka Coco, the second daughter; and a two-year-old son, who does not want to imagine any other children crushed in the war.
The rapper has said that his words “free Palestine” are not only for the people of Gaza and Palestine but for all Jewish brothers and sisters, rooting for their protection.
He never meant to offend anyone and just wished innocent to be pardoned, as his words followed, “There isn’t a drop of antisemitic thought in my head or my blood. When I say ‘Free Palestine,’ it’s not because I’m against anyone, it actually means we should protect everyone.“
