Celtic legendary footballer Tommy Burns’ wife, Rosemary Burns, is no longer alive now. She passed away 16 years after her husband’s demise, on July 3, 2024, at the age of 69.
Before dying, Rosemary was on holiday in Tenerife, Spain, and fell ill, Daily Record reports. So, she was returning back to her home in Scotland.
But in the middle of the way, her health condition turned worse, so the Jet2 flight on which she was traveling had to make an emergency landing in Cork. However, she unfortunately met an ultimate demise.
Ever since her passing news emerged, many are honoring her legacy through social media.
The Twitter page of The Kano Foundation recently wrote, “We’re extremely sad to hear of the passing of Rosemary Burns, a huge supporter of The Kano Foundation’s work. We will miss seeing her at our events. May she rest in peace and rise in Glory.”
Rosemary Burns was married to Tommy Burns for 28 years and had four children together
The now-late Rosemary Burns remained behind her husband, Tommy Burns’ side, until his passing on 15 May 2008. By then, the couple had already been married for 28 years.
Rosemary and Tommy reportedly first met at the Terminal 1 disco in St Enoch Square, Glasgow, when they were still teenagers. After dating for a while, the two tied the knot in 1980.
After their marriage, they welcomed four children: two daughters, Jenna and Emma, and two sons, Michael and Jonathan.

Rosemary and Tommy had a great bonding as husband and wife; their daughter Emma later revealed, while talking to The Sunday Post, “My mum only ever called him Thomas, or Thomas Burns. She never called him Tommy.”
Supporting Emma’s statement, Jenna also added that her parents used to call each other ‘pally,’ which shows a friendly relationship.
So, probably, the deep love Rosemary had for Tommy made her live a widow life after her husband lost his life to skin cancer in 2008.
