Professional English footballer Kobbie Mainoo, who won Manchester United their 13th FA Cup on May 25, Saturday, was born to Ghanaian parents on April 19, 2005, in Stockport, United Kingdom.

His father, Felix Mainoo, and mother, Abena Herold, were born in West Africa and have Ghanaian roots. Later, they moved to England as a permanent residence and started a family there.

Therfore, Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year award winner Kobbie Mainoo holds two nationalities: English and Ghanaian.

Even though Kobbie was born and raised in England, his love for his ancestry never goes away.

Kobbie Mainoo, a star of England’s national team and Premier League club Manchester United, proudly discusses his originality and family roots in the media.

During the interview with ESPN, the 19-year-old midfielder stated, “I’m proud of my Ghanaian heritage, both my parents being from there and my family,” when asked if he had decided to play for England or not, as he was still eligible to play for Ghana, which is his parents’ birthplace.

Further, he also added that even though he can not play for his home country, he is undoubtedly enjoying the opportunities his birthplace, England, has provided him.

In 2021, the player also mentioned visiting his parents’ country in Ghana, Africa, and shared his experience meeting his extended family members.

Robbie has a close-knit family, which includes his parents, grandparents, and siblings.

Kobbie Mainoo has three siblings: two sisters, Ama Mainoo and Efia Mainoo, and a big brother, Jordan Mainoo-Hames.

His brother Jordan Mainoo Hames is the star of the Love Island, who appeared in the fifth season in 2019.

Many people were shocked when the 28-year-old Love Island star revealed his little brother is Kobbie Mainoo.

On February 13, 2021, Jordan uploaded an image of Kobbie on his X handle, writing, “Proud Big Bro Moment Fr ⚽️❤️.”

Kobbie shares a close bond with his siblings, who often appear to support their brother’s career by participating in his victories and celebrations.

Kobbie also loves taking his parents to events. During the recent FA Cup after-party, he brought his mother, Abena Herold, who appeared to take a picture with her son in front of a huge trophy.
