Lately, the 19-year-old British teenager Jay Slater has consistently been in the headlines as his mother Debbie Duncan, 55, came forward in the media, appealing for her son’s rescue. Her son Jay was on holiday in Tenerife but suddenly vanished on June 17.
Debbie also organized a GoFundMe page so that the money they collect would support the family’s expenses during searching, such as mountain rescue, accommodation, and food.
As Jay’s mom Debbie claimed money from donations in the mysterious missing case, many are trolling her, comparing her to Karren Matthews, who claimed a £50k reward, faking her then nine-year-old daughter Shannon Matthews’ abduction back in 2008.
In this regard, Debbie said, “People are calling me…you’re the new Karen Matthews. I just can’t face it.” Besides these comparisons, neither Debbie nor Karen Matthews are related, nor are their children Jay Slater and Shannon.

Almost two weeks have passed since Jay’s disappearance, but police couldn’t track him down. So, recently, police called off his search operation.
According to BBC, Tenerife’s Guardia Civil said, “The search operation is over. Yesterday was the final day of the search.”
Well, in the meantime, everything seems to be mysterious and uncertain in the missing case of a British teenager. The truth is yet to unfold, and hopefully, it will happen soon, just like it happened in Shannon Matthews’ case. She was found alive 24 days after she went missing.

In Shannon’s case, police discovered the involvement of Michael Donovan, the uncle of Shannon’s mom’s boyfriend, and charged him with abduction and false imprisonment. Likewise, officials also found Shannon’s mom, Karen, guilty and put a charge of child neglect and perverting the course of justice on her.
Looking at this, the nature of Jay Slater’s missing case appeared to be different from Shannon Matthews’ abduction case. But the ray of hope to find the missing person alive must be the same back in 2008 and in 2024, mustn’t it?

- Investigation shows, Jay Slater last phone location was on Rural de Teno Park in the north of the island, an 11-hour walk distance from his accommodation.
- Before vanishing, Jay had a video call with one of his friends in which he mentioned he lost his track to his accommodation with only 1% charge on his phone and in the need of water.
