Famous soul and funk band Maze member Frankie Beverly retired in 2024 after over fifty years of career in the American music industry.
The lead singer announced his retirement in early February 2024 through Billboard: where he stated, “It’s been a great ride through the decades. Let the music of my legacy continue.“
Further, the singer mentioned, before retiring he would have a farewell trip, which began on February 15.

His last performance was in Houston on April 13, where he gave his fans a night to remember.
After watching his concert, many fans also agreed that he deserved a break, as Frankie Beverly was facing difficulties singing at the concert due to his old age and illness.
Despite health issues and old age, many people have been shocked by his long-lasting music career, which he believes became possible due to his healthy habits.
He revealed the reason behind his longevity, saying, “I try to stay out of messes and stay healthy. I really do take pride in what I’ve been given and do the best I can in that.“
Frankie Beverly had been dealing with throat problems for a long time
In an interview, Frankie Beverly revealed that he never had any serious illness like cancer or a similar diagnosis; however, he is suffering from throat problems.
However, the vocalist claimed that it is normal for an artist to have a throat problem, as reported by the black doctor.

As his singing career was still continuing even in his 70s, his throat illness started getting severe. Due to that, the singer now has difficulties singing, and his voice does not sound like before.
Further, there was a viral video in which an R&B legend appeared singing in concert, but his voice broke when he tried singing a long rage song.
