On 17 May 2024, Alex Fortescue, who was serving as managing director at a private equity firm, Eprisis, passed away at 55. Meanwhile, a cycling incident is said to be the cause of his demise.
Three days later, Eprisis mourned Alex’s passing, stating it as a ‘profound loss’ for the company as he was an exceptional individual.
The company’s statement continued, saying, ‘His leadership has been instrumental in building the team…. We will sorely miss his energy, his presence, and his friendship.’
Well, at the moment, the unexpected demise of Alex Fortescue obviously has pulled his wife and three children into an intense grief, there’s no doubt.
But, given the circumstances, they must be proud of Alex’s career achievements.
Alex Fortescue earned his degree in electronic engineering and contributed much to the Finance sector
As mentioned in his LinkedIn, Alex Fortescue completed his bachelor’s in electronic engineering at Imperial College London.
Soon after earning his degree, Alex began his professional career as a Principal at OC&C Strategy Consultant. There, he worked for exactly 8 years and 10 months, and in between, he also managed to do an MBA (with distinction) from the Business School for the World, Insead.
Subsequently, he then joined Apax as a Global Head of the Retail and Consumer Team and remained there for another decade (from July 1999 to April 2010).
With such vast experience in the finance sector, he joined London’s acclaimed firm, Epiris, in 2011 and became a managing partner.
According to sources, a managing partner can earn an average salary of £200,000 if he/she has decades of experience in the field. In that case, we believe that Alex Fortescue must have accumulated about $3 million in his net worth solely from his tenure at Epiris.
Colleagues of Alex Fortescue remember him as a bright and insightful individual
With Alex’s sudden passing, many of his colleagues have come forward to lament the loss. They also remembered him as a bright human being.
Edmund Truell, who worked with Alex back in 2003 on the Wickes deal, wrote, “Always thoughtful, courteous, super bright and insightful. Clear no’s and clear ‘yes’s.’ No prevarication. A sad, sad loss.”
Likewise, HM Government’s Lead Non-executive director, Michael Jary CBE, stated Alex’s demise as ‘terrible news.’ He recalled how he interviewed Alex while he was a student at Imperial and how sharp Alex was at the time.
Michael also insisted that Alex contributed much to building three great firms while serving as a leader at Epiris. His tribute to Alex ended with the line, “A fine man to remember and to honor.”
His colleagues have paid such overwhelming homage to Alex Fortescue, and how can his grieving family not be proud of him?
What to say further, The Superslice family wished the gone soul may rest in paradise and may the almighty grant much power to his wife and children.
