As May 24 began, Internet users stumbled over the news of Douglass Barnes, who allegedly slaughtered 19-year-old Samantha McCaffrey, the daughter of Sergeant Mike McCaffery, during her Livonia High School prom.

Douglass’s story was first uploaded on TikTok, and the video amassed millions of views within ten hours of its upload. Gradually, the news made its way to other social media platforms, hyping people’s interest in the case.

Well, just a day before, Livonia Police released a statement saying that no such incident had occurred in Livonia, Michigan.

Further, as per Fox2Detriot reports, neither a man named Douglass Barnes as a resident resides in Michigan nor the school where the homicide allegedly took place exists.

With this, Douglass Barnes’ whole story, where he allegedly shot a teenage girl, Samantha, to avenge his son’s homicide, has turned out fake.

As a result, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that no such man as Douglass exists in reality.

Netizens have questioned the authenticity of Douglass Barnes’ viral story ever since it took over the Internet

After Douglass Barnes’ case gained wide media attention, netizens became divided about how they perceived the news.

While some completely believed it and supported Douglass’ action, saying, “when there is no justice, then revenge is the only option,” others questioned the news’ credibility.

A day ago, a YouTuber named OTRblogz uploaded a video sharing the details of Douglass Barnes’ case on his YouTube Channel, and beneath, in the comment section, many called the news fake.

One who was originally from Livonia claimed that no such incident ever occurred in Livonia, mentioning that she is from the same area.

Another commented, “Bruh, I don’t even think this is real. I tried looking for this story, and there’s no news article about it. Is this AI?

Finally, the police recently confirmed that the whole Douglass Barnes story is fake. No man named Douglass Barnes exists in Livonia, Michigan.
