Following the tragic firearm incident at Apalachee High School that took the lives of four innocents, people took to social media to figure out more about the race, parents, and other details of the suspect, Colt Gray.
One Twitter user named @MatthewRyan10h1 posted a screenshot of what appeared to be a Google search. He wrote that they might have found out information about his race.

The screenshot featured a photo of a Black boy. Likewise, another user commented on a photo of the same guy and confirmed he was definitely Colt Gray.
But, the original poster stated that he was keeping an open mind and did say “may.”
@Texasartchick called out both of them saying, ““May?” You’re posting photos of a child labeling them as the shooter without verifying first. DELETE this post, you’re endangering a child and spreading a lie. Also, reporting your post.“
Also, another user stated that Colt Gray was white!
Colt Gray’s aunt shared in a now-deleted Facebook post that his mom had been through a series of troubles!
Following the firearm incident, Colt Gray’s aunt posted on her Facebook wall, sharing news of the tragic event. However, the post appears to have been deleted now.
Nevertheless, she wrote, “Please someone get me in touch with GBI!!!!!!!!!!! I’ve tried calling!!!!” She stated that she was not scared and would not back down.
She emphasized that she would not disrespect other parents and families that are dealing with this tragedy on the opposite end. She added that they did not deserve this.
Colt’s aunt added, “With that said, I will not leave my nephew standing alone!!!! When Ulvade happened, I told my own children that ‘only hurt people hurt.‘”

Furthermore, Annie stated in the comments that when the mom of Colt Gray, Marcee Gray, was in jail, she was bailed by her parents, and then she went to rehab for a few months.
Then, Colt’s dad went and picked her up without permission from Marcee’s mom, and they stayed together for a few weeks. After issues arose, she returned to her parents’ house.
Annie also stated that Colt’s mom destroyed his aunt’s personal belongings and even stole thousands of dollars worth of property from their parents and pawned all of it.
According to his aunt, she took his mom’s phone after the latter tied their mom up and left her for 24 hours. Then, Annie took screenshots of the Google searches, texts between people that Marcee was working with, and pictures of handwritten notes that she had exchanged with her drug friends.
Marcee also allegedly waited until her dad left the house and set up the chair and tape. She also threatened to k*ll her husband and Colt to get back at her mom.
The suspect’s mom, Marcee Gray, hinted that she and her husband were staying together for the kids!
In November 2022, Colt Gray’s mom, Marcee, shared the YouTube video of Blink-182’s song “Stay Together For the Kids.”
She wrote that she knew it was hard to understand from the outside looking in. Everyone in her and her husband’s family couldn’t understand why she stayed as long as she did.

Marcee stated that she had made a commitment to the Lord and her husband. She wrote, “No one but me understands the pain that my husband lives with every single day. Every single person in his life has hurt or betrayed him… And I truly believe that the Lord sent me to him because no one else was strong enough to stay by his side through thick and thin. I’m not about to give up on him now“
Marcee revealed they were taking a break. Her other post revealed that her hubby was abused from a very young age. It was severe physical abuse, getting a broken arm at 8 while he was totally asleep.
The parents of the suspect, Colt Gray, appear to have separated now, as per his mom’s Facebook description.
Additional Information
- 16 months prior, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office brought in Colt Gray and his dad for questioning. It was after the FBI’s National Threat Operations Center received anonymous tips about threats made online. It was a post made on a gaming website and included photos of guns and the threat to s*oot up an unknown school.
- The firearm incident resulted in the demise of two teachers and two students and injured at least nine others. During a press conference, the GBI revealed the name of the suspect.
- According to Investigators, he had entered the building at around 10:20 am and opened fire. Law enforcement officers responded immediately and encountered him, who surrendered.
- Investigators had interviewed Colt Gray, but the motive behind the shooting remains a mystery.
