Jon Wysocki, the original Drummer for Staind, recently passed away at the age of 53 on May 18, 2024, following issues with his liver.

Jon Wysocki was a co-founder and drummer of an American rock band from Springfield, Massachusetts, “Staind“(1995-2011).

On May 20, 2011, Wysocki departed from the Band. He revealed that the production was rushed to avoid breaching their record contract, leading to his dissatisfaction with the final products.

Wysocki later joined another American rock band from Chicago named Soil in 2011.

Moreover, Jon has been working with the band Lydia’s Castle as a drummer since 2021 until his demise.

His bandmates at Lydia’s Castle confirmed his demise with an Instagram post.

The post stated, “On 5/18/2024 at 8:02 pm, Jon Wysocki passed away surrounded by family and friends that loved him dearly.”

Talking about Jon Wysocki’s personal life, though the names of his family members are not publicly disclosed, he was born to a Polish family with ancestry in east-central Poland.

Jon Wysocki’s parents encouraged him to pursue music

Jon Wysocki had a diverse start to his musical journey, filled with many instruments. Rightly so, he started with the violin.

In an interview, Jon stated that his parents encouraged him to play music, leading him to play sax, trumpet, and trombone in school bands.

Moreover, as a young kid, he played his mom’s pots and pans as a musical instrument. Seeing his passion for music, his parents bought Jon his first drum set at the age of five.

when I was five they bought me my first drum set. I was just one of those kids who was really hyperactive so I wasn’t too focused on any one thing.

Wysocki also had a big influence from his mom’s side of the family, through which he learned about early 70s R&B and started getting into rock music.

In addition to his musical journey, Wysocki’s father also saw his potential in sports and wanted Jon to become a hockey player.

Because of Jon’s determination for music, he couldn’t pursue his career as an athlete, which upset his father.

The father and son didn’t talk for almost two years, but eventually, his father accepted Jon’s career change and supported him, sharing a close bond for all the years Wysocki had lived.

We at The Superslice pray for the better passing of Jon’s soul to paradise. May god give strength to his family.
