Steven Pankey, who is currently serving his sentence at the Arkansas Valley Correctional Facility for the homicide of Jonelle Matthews, lost his youngest son, Carl Wesley, on July 4, 2008.
According to several reports, Steve Pankey son, Carl Wesley Pankey, who was a 20-year-old college student at that time, was assassinated by his girlfriend in 2008 in Phoenix.
Likewise, in the trial of Steven Pankey, ex-wife Angela Hicks recalled the day before their son’s memorial service, where she witnessed a bizarre moment where Steven walked up to their son’s urn and mentioned Matthews, stating, “I hope God didn’t allow this to happen because of Matthews.“
Angela Hicks also stated that it was the only time she ever saw that much emotion from him; he kissed his son Carl Wesley Pankey. According to her, Steven Pankey was a controlling and abusive man.
Moreover, Steven Pankey’s ex-wife Angela often shares pictures of their late son. Recently, on an August 7 Facebook post, Angela shared a picture of Carl with the caption, “ In three more years, he will be gone as many years as he was alive.“

Established in 1989 in Sun Valley, Ketchum, Idaho, Monarch Property Services has been providing housekeeping services for more than 35 years to different service areas, including Sun Valley, Elkhorn, Ketchum, Hailey, and Wood River Valley.
Moreover, before establishing her own company, Angela worked odd jobs in different places since childhood. She is also an outstanding artist and painter with a bachelor’s degree in art, photography, painting, and ceramics from the College of Southern Idaho.
Regarding her marital relationship with Steven Pankey, the couple started dating in 1978 and tied the knot in October of the same year. They moved to Greely, Colorado, and settled at 6086 West 10th Street.
Furthermore, the couple divorced in the early 2000s after years of deteriorating relationships. According to Angela, Steven was very religious and controlling, and she was walking on eggshells trying to keep the peace. She added, “I was trapped. And especially when we left Greeley . . . I had no support system whatsoever.“
