2015 was the era of the rapper Slim Jesus when he released hits like Drill Time and Buck Buck, which have now garnered 62 M and 5.2 M views, respectively. Yet, after releasing his last album, Against All Odds, the rapper disappeared in 2021.
However, a recent Tweet posted on May 14, 2024, has brought attention to Slim Jesus, whom rappers like Chief Keef and Lil Bibby dissed and criticized as a cap rap artist.
Many did not seem to know about the rapper, but those who knew Slim Jesus wanted to know if he was still alive and, if so, what happened to him.

The reaction was further hyped when Rap Music posted clips of Slim Jesus’ Drill Time raps on its Instagram handle, where many commented that they believed he was shot or crucified.
However, Jesus Slim is still alive, and nothing serious seems to have happened to him.
Yet, his current whereabouts remain vague, except that he started his band, the Rubber Band Cartel, in 2022.
Slim Jesus’ downfall came after the DJ VIad interview, but he is still into rapping
Fans wish Jesus Slim a comeback, saying he invented the rap cap in the wrong era and that this could be the time for him, as all attention is on his return.
Slim Jesus (real name Robert Church) is a 27-years-old rapper, born on April 10, 1997, in Hamilton, Ohio.
He got his stage name as a rendition of Swag Jesus, which his friends later changed to Slim because of his physique.
Slim Jesus had his breakthrough with his single Drill Time, released on July 20, 2015, on his SoundCloud account. He posted it in August of the same year on his YouTube channel.
The song and the rapper were doing well until Jesus’ interview with DJ VIad went viral, and fans felt betrayed by the rapper.
The Drill Time actually was drill music inspired by Chicago artists, and Jesus’ song was gangster inspired while brandishing firearms, which was against his racial stereotype.
Moreover, Jesus said in the interview that he was not into firearms and did not promote homicide or live like a gangster but loved rapping about them.
This eventually spread like wildfire, as all the artists trying to sign Slim Jesus under them found a fault and started criticizing him.
Eventually, the rapper’s subsequent releases did not receive the fame they deserved, leading to the shutdown of Jesus’ career as an independent artist.
In 2024, fans believe that no one would have found faults in Jesus’ approach to rapping.
He could enjoy fame, just like Lil Mabu and Eminem, with whom fans often compare him, so he should hurry to make a comeback.
Additional Information
- Diddy’s Bad Boy Records offered Slim Jesus a $1 million contract, but he rejected it because he wished to be an independent artist.
- He had around 63 songs under his name, including ‘Warning Shots,’ ‘She Just Wanna,’ and ‘Deuce Deuce.’
