Sam Ponder initially attended the King’s College in New York. At the same time, she also applied for a hostess job at ESPN Zone.

She met Ben Keeperman, a college football manager and researcher working with ABC Sports Radio there. This interaction helped her get an internship offer at the network.

Eventually, Poinder began working as a research assistant with ABC-TV on the college football studio show.

After that, Liberty’s senior sports Producer, Bruce Carey, offered her a job as a sideline reporter for the Liberty Flames sports television network. As a result, she transferred to Liberty University, where she graduated in 2009.

Following that, she worked as a sideline reporter for Big 12 and Pac-10 college basketball and football games for Fox Sports Net and Fox College Sports.

On July 7, 2011, she joined ESPN’s Longhorn Network as one of its first talent hires. Along with her, ESPNU anchor Lowell Galindo and former Austin sports talk radio host Kevin Dunn were hired.

Since 2011, she has become one of ESPN’s most recognizable talents and one of the highest-paid women in sports media, all thanks to her savvy football reporting.

It has been reported that she had a salary of $4.9 million. In March 2022, the Countdown host and network reportedly agreed to a new contract to pay her $3 million over the next three years.

She was also expected to carry out additional responsibilities at ESPN, including NFL Draft coverage. However, in August 2024, ESPN fired her and analyst Robert Griffin III for financial reasons.

All in all, having made seven figures throughout her career, it is no wonder Sam Pomder has a net worth of multi-millions.
