Timothy James Walz, aka Tim Walz, an American politician and the 41st governor of Minnesota, recently publicly rebuked U.S. Senator J.D. Vance for opposing reproductive health care like IVF on his social media, stating that IVF was the reason he and his wife are blessed with two beautiful children.
In early June 2024, Senator J.D. Vance, who is also a Republican vice presidential candidate for the upcoming election, voted against the right to IVF and other reproductive services.
Vance also made a critical comment about women without children during July, stating women who haven’t given birth, like Kamala Harris, are “childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and have no direct stake in America.“
Many people criticized Vance for his hurtful and thoughtless comments. Actress Jennifer Aniston said she couldn’t believe these statements were coming from a potential U.S. VP, and she prayed that Vance’s daughter was fortunate enough to bear children of her own one day and would not need to turn to IVF.
Gwen and I have two beautiful children because of reproductive health care like IVF. This issue is deeply personal to our family and so many others.

Don’t let these guys get away with this by telling you they support IVF when their handpicked judges oppose it.
In response to Vance’s demeaning comments, Governor Tim Walz took to X on July 26, 2024, to talk about the struggle he and his wife Gwen had to face because of infertility, which made them suffer from anxiety and frustration.
Tim stated that even if Vance has never gone through the hell of infertility, someone he knows has, and his opposition to the miracle of IVF is a direct attack on Tim’s family and so many others who were able to give birth to children because of IVF.
Tim Walz and his wife, Gwen, have a daughter and a son
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz often recalls the struggle he and his wife Gwen had to face because of infertility and how the couple went through several fertility treatments at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester for seven years.
After several years of treatments and longings, the couple gave birth to their daughter, Hope, in January 2001.
Furthermore, Tim Walz revealed that he and his wife named their daughter Hope because she was born after several years of treatment, stating, “There’s a reason we named her Hope.” Years later, the couple gave birth to their son Gus on October 13, 2006.
Tim’s daughter, Hope, completed her High school studies at Mankato West High School. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology with a Minor in Women’s Gender and Sexuality Studies from Montana State University-Bozeman.
While at Montana State University, Hope worked as a Program Manager for the Girl Scouts of Montana and Wyoming for 3 months and was a Sales Associate at Athleta.
Hope was also a Summer Camp Counselor at Christikon Lutheran Bible Camp and worked as a Concierge at Ridge Athletic Clubs.
Regarding Tim’s son, Gus Walz, he is currently studying in a public high school in St. Paul and can often be seen with his father on various occasions.
