Melania Trump, the wife of former President Donald Trump, finally made her rare public appearance at the Republic National Convention in Milwaukee, where her husband accepted the GOP presidential nomination for the third time.
Although Melania Trump has remained largely absent in the ongoing election campaign events and rallies, Republicans greeted her with a big round of applause when she made her entrance at the RNC.
Since Trump announced his 2024 campaign almost two years ago, Melania Trump has remained strictly in the shadows without making any major public political appearance. Furthermore, she did not attend either Trump’s hush money trial or his June 28 debate against President Joe Biden.
Having said that, Melania Trump did release a lengthy public statement after the assassination attempt of her husband at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Nonetheless, donning a bright red suit, Melania came forward, smiling and waving to supporters at the RNC right before Donald Trump’s speech.
Then, she went on to join her husband and his running mate, JD Vance, in the box. Later, she was accompanied by Usha Vance, wife of JD Vance, Ivanka Trump, and son Eric.

On the RNC’s final day in Milwaukee, Melania Trump finally made her rare appearance but did not give a speech, unlike at the 2016 and 2020 Republican Conventions, where she addressed the crowd with a 20-minute speech.
Moreover, it had become common for the first ladies and candidates’ spouses to deliver a speech at the convention since Barbara Bush gave one in 1992. So, Melania not delivering the speech would be breaking the tradition.

However, after her absence from Trump’s political campaign and presidential debate against Biden, many speculated that she might not be present or live full-time in the White House again like she did before.
Now that she has stayed silent at the RNC, such speculations are only getting more fortified. Many see it as confirmation that Melania Trump will remain distant from her husband’s political life.
Be it silent or not, many political experts believe that Melania Trump’s appearance alone is enough for Trump followers to make them want more of her.
Additionally, it’s not like Melania Trump stayed out of the campaign entirely. She did host two private fundraisers for Log Cabin Republicans in New York and Flordia. However, this is not much compared to the current first lady, Jill Biden’s frequent fundraising tours at multiple destinations.

While Melania Trump stayed silent, Donald Trump thanked his wife. In his speech, he said, “Melania, thank you very much. You also did something really beautiful, a letter to America, calling for national unity.“
Donald Jr, his fianceé Kimberly Guilfoyle, Eric Trump, Hulk Hogan, Nikki Haley, and rapper Amber Rose also delivered speeches to Trump followers at the RNC, whereas Kid Rock gave a soulful performance.
