Montenegro goalkeeper Matija Sarkic, who also played for English club Millwall, recently passed away on June 15 at the age of 26, leaving his family and loved ones devastated.
His twin brother Oliver Sarkic stated on Twitter that Matija was an amazing person and that life wouldn’t be the same without him.

Sarkic began his football career with the youth academy of Belgian club Anderlecht before moving to Aston Villa in 2015.
During his time at Aston Villa, he gained experience on loan at several clubs, including Wigan Athletic, Stratford Town, Havant Waterlooville, and Livingston in the Scottish Premiership.
Moreover, in 2020, Sarkic signed with Wolverhampton Wanderers. He was loaned out to Shrewsbury Town and Birmingham City, where he was voted Player of the Season.
Sarkic also spent time on loan at Stoke City. In 2023, he joined Millwall in the EFL Championship and quickly became their first-choice goalkeeper.
Internationally, Sarkic represented Montenegro at both youth and senior levels, making his senior debut in 2019.
