Larry, a British domestic tabby cat who has been Chief Mouser to the Cabinet at 10 Downing Street, has garnered worldwide attention among millions for his friendly personality and charming appearance.
The 17-years-old Larry, born as a stray cat, has been serving his role as a mouser since 2011. His official duties include greeting guests to the house, inspecting security defenses, testing antique furniture for napping quality, and considering a solution to the mouse occupancy of the house.
Larry’s popularity has increased over time. According to Ipsos reports, on July 4, 2024, Larry the Cat has higher favorability rankings than either former prime minister or new prime minister Keir Starmer.
Furthermore, the new polling from Ipsos found that 44 percent of British have a favorable opinion among people, which is higher than any of the prime ministers to date.
Netizens also say that Larry is the best candidate for Prime Minister as he has lived in official residence for years, and millions of people express their love for him on social media.

Though Larry the Cat is currently in good health, Downing Street officials plan to announce his eventual demise as he is in his prime, according to reports.
Moreover, it is revealed that the officials plan to announce his passing in a similar way to how they announced Queen Elizabeth’s demise. Reports also state the official will say “Larry bridges” when the cat passes a reference to “London Bridge is falling down,” the same code for when Elizabeth II demised.

On August 24, 2024, the official Twitter account of Larry the Cat also revealed the plans for announcing his demise, stating, “My wish is to be stuffed and placed above a fireplace in Dowing Street as constant reminder that the inhabitants shouldn’t do anything stupid.”
The post also added that Larry feels fine, stating, “Plenty of life in me yet,” and that there should be a bank holiday for my funeral.
