A New Zealand native, Kupa Parata, who was a rugby player for the Sunshine Coast Rugby League, has tragically passed away at a young age, however, sources have not confirmed what happened that lead to his demise.
The news of the 15-year-old teenage Kupa Parata’s demise first came to the public after the family released a tribute post on GoFundMe for Kupa Parata.
According to the post, Kupa Parata passed away on 28th August 2024; as the family stated that day, “Parata family and Coolum community unexpectedly lost an amazing young man,” referring to the young player.
However, neither family nor his rugby clubs or team has revealed the reason behind his sudden passing, therefore people are constantly asking what happened to Kupa Parata.
Moreover, as no one knows what exactly happened to Kupa Parata, people are speculating that he might have gotten into an accident that might have led to his demise; however, this is not confirmed yet.
The family of Kupa Parata is collecting funds on GoFundme to send his body to his hometown, New Zealand
Kupa Parata was born in around 2009 into a middle-class family to parents from New Zealand, although he has been living in Sunshine Coast, Queensland, for a long time.
Further, he was also doing his schooling from Coolum High School based in Beach in the Sunshine Coast Region of Queensland, Australia.
As Kupa Parata’s sudden demise took place unexpectedly, the family wanted to take his body to their hometown, New Zealand, for which they needed a massive sum of money.
Damian Parata believed to be Kupa Parata’s father, teamed up with Kim Hauritz to launch a GoFundMe campaign requesting financial support from the public.
As per the post, their goal was to raise AUD 7,000, and they have collected AUD 16,400 from 287 donations.
His family’s last wish to “Send Kupa home to Aotearoa, NZ to his final resting place,” has succeeded through the donation.
Further, the Kupa Parata family thanked them for their unwavering support, claiming, “The support the community has shown during this tragic loss has been unwavering, from the Coolum Colts Rugby League Club, Coolum High School, friends and families.“
