British Labor Party leader Keir Starmer has been pretty open about his religious affiliation. Though he grew up with the Church of England, he considers himself an atheist, as he once said, “I am not of faith. I don’t believe in God.”
But having said that doesn’t mean Kei Starmer disrespects religion. While having an exclusive talk with the Sunday Times back in 2021, he said, “This is going to sound odd, but I do believe in faith. I can see the power of faith and the way it brings people together.”
Well, that’s why Keir, as a politician, doesn’t hesitate to acknowledge every religious group in the United Kingdom.
On June 29, 2024, he shared a clip of himself visiting a Hindu temple and addressing the Hindu community, captioning that his labor party is committed to making people of every faith believe that Britain is safe for them.
Despite considering himself a non-religious person, Keir Starmer practices Jewish tradition with his family
61-year-old politician Keir Starmer is pretty progressive regarding his perspective on religion. Though he is personally an atheist, he highly values his wife, Victoria Alexander’s Jewish faith.
According to him, his wife’s father was born Jewish. So, he finds it extremely significant that his children would learn their family’s Jewish heritage.
During his interview with Limmud Jewish learning festival, Keir said that he and his wife are raising their children ‘to recognize the faith of part of their grandfather’s family,’ Times of Israel reports.
Since his family follows Jewish tradition, Friday night holds significant value in his life as it’s a time for prayers and Shabbat dinners. So, Keir does his best to manage time to follow the Jewish rituals for the sake of his wife and two kids.
