A professional soccer player from London, Jay Emmanuel Thomas, has been arrested after police suspect him of importing illegal substances.
The arrest came after Border Force officers at Stansted Airport detected around 60kg of illegal substance in two suitcases, which had arrived on a flight from Bangkok.

According to the reports provided by the National Crime Agency, the substances are worth over £600,000.
After the investigation, police found the 33-year-old football player Jay Emmanuel Thomas linked to the crime and arrested him on Wednesday at around 8 in Gourock, Scotland.

According to the reports, two unidentified women, aged 28 and 32, were also arrested in connection with the drug bust.
Like the players, they are under the charges of illegal substance importation offenses. However, they are not in custody as the authorities bailed them and have ordered them to appear at Chelmsford Crown Court on October 1.
But Thomas is still in custody, and there has been no news about his bail yet. As the case investigation continues, police are trying to figure out his connection to the crime, and the National Crime Agency has been questioning him on the case.

Furthermore, David Phillips, NCA Senior Investigating Officer, talked about their work on the case, saying:
“We would appeal to anyone who is engage in any kind of smuggling to think very carefully about the likely consequences of their actions and the potentially life-changing risks they will be taking.”
According to reports, footballer Jay Emmanuel Thomas will appear in court at Carlisle Magistrates on Thursday, September 19.
