James is one of the three children of Beth and Chan, who married in September 2002. His father excels as a musician and worship leader. In September 2022, his mom ran for the Lexington One school board and successfully won the election.
He has two siblings, John Thomas Shealy and Hannah Shealy. James’s sister, Hannah, is autistic, and she was born in January 2008.
Hames’s family is close-knit, and he appears to share a special bond with them all.
Nevertheless, James went missing from his Lexington, South Carolina residence sometime between September 23 and the early morning of September 24, 2024. He was last seen on September 23.
His parents, Beth and Chan, found him missing when they woke up on September 24th. At the time of his last sighting, he was wearing a dark grey, almost charcoal hoodie, tennis shoes, and shorts.

Friends and family posted about his missing on social media and mentioned that he did not have his cell phone.
They have reported him on the NCIS and local missing person databases. To locate him, police interviewed neighbors and friends, searched his electronics and drone, and even used dogs to search for him using his scent.
They also posted on different Facebook groups, and people came together to rescue the boy. Some even suggested they search near their house, as when people go missing like this, they are usually very close to the house.
Some also suggested they knock on all neighbors’ doors within the immediate area, check every corner of the house, vehicles, and ring cameras.
In one such post, a woman commented, saying she saw a young white male with light-colored hair, a dark hoodie, and shorts heading toward Broad River around 3:40-3:50 PM. The woman added that she noticed him because he had a look on his face of confusion and being in a hurry.
