After the announcement of Helen Worth’s departure from Coronation Street, fans speculated her health might be the reason why she is leaving, as she is already 73 years old.
She had been working in the ITV soap for almost five decades, joining in 1974 at the age of 23.
After 50 years of career at Coronation Street playing as a Gail Platt, Helen finally decided to take a rest as the show announced her exit on June 5, 2024, via X, formerly known as Twitter.

The network revealed that she would leave the show next month, in July, after completing filming the exit story. However, they did not mention the reason for her departure.
On the other hand, the 73-year-old actress seemed to have been planning her departure long before the announcement; as she mentioned, leaving after celebrating her 50-year anniversary seemed perfect timing.
Further, according to her statement, Helen Worth is not leaving the show due to any illness or disease. There has been no news of her serious sickness or accident to date.

Since Helen’s departure was announced, fans have started speculating about the exit story.
Many claim they would probably plan some accident and k**l off her role, while some also speculated they might have a replacement.

Apart from their speculation, many are pleading to give her a happy ending, as her character has suffered enough in those 50 years.
One x user tweeted, “PLEASE let her have a happy ending! A nice husband who’s not a serial killer she can move away with. I’d return to watching Corrie for that.”
Similarly, another demanded to send her back to Thailand rather than giving any baddie storyline.
The Lifetime Achievement Award-winning actress had been married five times in the show, where four of her husbands passed away, and one turned out to be a serial ki**er.
Her character, Gail, faced numerous challenges in her lifetime, and Helen claims if she had to face half of those challenges in her real life, she would have ended up in a mental hospital.
However, according to the network’s announcement post, she would have a sad and emotional ending, but they might not kill her role, as it would be very cruel.
