Women’s empowerment activist Hadley Duvall, who came to the public eye after raising her voice for the right to abortion in Kentucky, shared going through a tough childhood due to her parents, abusive stepfather Jeremy Whitledge, and an alcoholic mother, Jennifer Adkins Miller.
Hadley Duvall, who is currently 22 years old as of 2024, revealed her stepfather started ab*sing her at age 5 and got her pregnant at age 12.
She describes the scary moment of her life, recalling, “I remember finding out I was pregnant as a 7th grader and feeling completely alone in the world.“
As she had to face various mental health struggles and trauma due to pregnancy and ab*se at a young age she never wanted anyone else to go through what she had been through.
However, when the Republican Attorney General Daniel Cameron started supporting Kentucky’s near-total abortion ban, she stood against it while claiming, “This is to you, Daniel Cameron. To tell a 12-year-old girl she must have the baby of her stepfather who raped her is unthinkable.“

As Hadley Duvall’s mother, Jennifer Adkins Miller, was struggling with alcoholism and substance, Duvall might have believed her mother could not save her from her stepfather, Jeremy Whitledge.
Further, she was also scared that if she told her mother what was happening to her, she might ruin the family, which other people saw as perfect.
Hadley Duvall mentioned that her parents used to attend her cheerleading competitions, celebrate Christmas at her stepfather’s house, and go on family vacations on trips, which showed that they were having a normal life or a perfect family, which she did not want to ruin.
However, the reality was far worse than what other people thought. Hadley Duvall’s efforts to protect her family from society’s eye led her to ruin her own life, which gave her years of trauma to live with.
Being silent for seven years, she got pregnant at age 12, and when she said whose baby was to her mother, her father blamed her, saying she could ‘sneak in‘ a boy from the neighborhood and become pregnant.
With the help of her parents, Hadley Duvall unknowingly got rid of the baby, but even after the pregnancy, she failed to bring her stepfather’s dark side to her family.
However, after around two years of hiding since the miscarriage, she finally decided to share the story with her mother in 2017 on the drive while returning from school with her mother. After discovering the truth, Miller and Duvall went to the police station to file a case against Jeremy Whitledge.
As of 2024, her stepfather pleaded guilty and served in prision. In 2019, Jeremy Whitledge wrote to Miller, “Because of my weakness, I failed as her father. I failed as her protector.“
