In September 2024, a post claiming Detective Jonathan Diller had gone missing was created, and it was then circulated on different Facebook groups.
The post stated that he had gone missing the day before in Jacksonville. It also mentioned that they found his truck the night before with his son inside.
Pocatello Police were notified of a social media post being shared during the weekend. The post said that Officer Jonathan Diller went missing in Pocatello. This information is false.

The post also included a photo of the detective smiling while holding a child. The text claimed that he had disappeared mysteriously and urged users to share to “help find him.”
However, these posts were just hoaxes, as the detective had already passed away in March 2024.
Jonathan Diller, the officer rumored to be missing, leaves behind his son and wife!
As mentioned earlier, Jonathan Diller succumbed to the injuries sustained during a firearm incident that occurred while he was on the job conducting a traffic stop.
He leaves behind his son, Ryan Diller, who was 1 at the time, and his wife, Stephanie Diller. They had tied the knot in 2019 and welcomed their baby boy in 2023.
In March 2024, he and another officer, Veckash Khedna, approached a car parked illegally at a bus stop. They had asked the passenger to get out of the car, but they didn’t comply.
The next thing they knew, the suspect, Guy Rivera, pulled a firearm and pointed it at them, eventually firing it. It hit Diller just below the vest in the torso, leaving a grave wound.
Khedna also fired back, and it struck Rivera, leaving him injured. Diller was then taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center.
Unfortunately, Diller succumbed to the firearm wound that was proved to be fatal.
Lindy Jones was driving the vehicle that Diller had approached, and Guy Rivera was the one who fired at him. The authorities charged the former with possessing a defaced firearm and a weapon.
NYPD had arrested Rivera 21 times, and nine of them were felonies. After serving nearly five years for the criminal sale of controlled substances, he got out of prison in September 2014. Likewise, Jones also had 14 prior arrests.
