David Jason has become a trending topic on Twitter as many users dug up his past connections with the Gliding Club. This ultimately led to the cases of Derek Sear and Albert Tarnow, in which the individuals took advantage of young boys in the actor’s mansion.
The issue arose on September 17, 2024, when a Twitter user warned her followers to refrain from googling David Jason Gliding Club, as the incident had been a controversial topic for a long time.
However, such remarks made many curious, and they looked for the actor’s past. To their surprise, two of Jason’s close friends from the Gliding Club used the actor’s mansion to perform indecent activities with young children.

Jason indulged in the club as a hobby and insisted on performing most of his stunts on The Only Fools and Horses Story as an enthusiastic glider pilot. Moreover, the actor holds a helicopter flying license, which he obtained after taking a year-long course.
Initially, when Jason was trending, many of his fans thought that the actor had passed away, but looking at the tweets revealed a dark history of the actor, which he had swept under the rug.
Many of his fans defended Jason on the matter, as one of them wrote, “No proof is being shown so it’s not right for people to brand him.“
However, police records from December 12, 1999, mentioned Jason’s name in the case. During the court hearing, the actor maintained his innocence and claimed he didn’t know of the acts happening in his house.

Following his connection to the Gliding Club and his convicted friends, a well-known aviation club near David Jason’s home forbade him from entering. However, no one could confirm the source of this information.
According to records, Derek Sear and Albert Tarnow used one another’s reputation to lure teenagers to Jason’s mansion. The pair had been conducting the act since 1973 before Luton Crown Court revealed the incidents.
One of their victims was a seven-year-old, and Jason spoke on their behalf in the hearing, “I’m shocked and saddened by this case. I have known Derek Sear for many years but now I realize I didn’t know him at all.”

As the investigations proceeded, the authorities released several details regarding the case. Moreover, Sear and Tarnow served as the pilots linked to two gliding clubs in Bedfordshire and Northants. They became friends with Jason after giving him gliding lessons for several years.
Likewise, the actor mentioned that he left the keys to his mansion to his friends as he left the country for a holiday in Australia. During that time, Sear and Tarnow forced young children into indecent acts.
After the legal procedures, authorities convicted Sear on 29 charges involving eight boys and Tarnow on 12 charges involving three boys. Years later, speculations arose that Jason knew about his friend’s actions and indirectly involved himself in the case.
While discussions on the actor’s action piled up, one of the Reddit users claimed, “Yes I’ve heard rumors from various places that he is well known for being an offender. When this man d*es, the floodgates will open. It’s very sad that no one will ever punish him.“
