A 15-year-old Cole Prevost, who is well-known for his content on platforms like TikTok and Instagram, recently got charged along with his two teenage friends for a viral video of animal cruelty.
On July 27, 2024, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s office received a piece of information about a video that was surfing all over social media where Cole and his friends could be seen abusing a dog on their hunting trip.
After investigating the case, detectives discovered that the incident occurred in the Manchac area in early 2023 and that the three boys were from the Ponchatoula area.
Furthermore, in the disturbing footage, Prevost punishes his brown Labrador in a pond out of frustration after the dog failed to kill a duck while hunting. He can also be heard shouting at the dog and threatening to “burn” it again.
This terrible incident led to the detention of Cole Prevost on one count of Animal Cruelty, and his two other friends were each charged with one count of Principal to Animal Cruelty.
Cole’s inhuman behavior has ignited outrage among millions online, and people are expressing their anger through different social media platforms.
Some are commenting about Cole’s disgusting behavior, stating that those who abuse animals must be punished, while others are concerned about the poor dog and want to know about it.
People are also sending threats to Cole and his family and assuming that his mother bailed him out, and as soon as he got out, he was beaten up badly. Some are also assuming that people burned his house, but TPSO is currently investigating the threats.
The dog is currently taken away from Cole Prevost’s house
After the tragic video, a petition is filed with the local authorities to remove the dog from Prevost’s house for its safety and further investigation.
The petition states, “We write to you with a heavy heart and a sense of urgency regarding a matter of grave concern: the safety and well-being of animals residing at the home of [Redacted] in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana.“
According to Louisiana Animal Welfare Act 428, animal owners and law enforcement agencies are responsible for creating and maintaining environments free from animal harm.
Considering the act and the well-being of the Dog, TPSO has been actively engaging with numerous animal welfare and legal experts, as well as partner government agencies, for consultation and collaboration regarding potential additional actions pertaining to the dog’s welfare.
Furthermore, the dog is removed from Cole Prevost’s house and is living in a new welfare house, where it is getting appropriate care and seems healthy.
Talking about Cole Prevost and his family, Cole and his parents have deleted all their social media accounts, and no further information about them is available.
