Mexican president Claudia Sheinbaum was born into a highly educated family in Mexico, where her parents are renowned scientists.

Her father, Carlos Sheinbaum Yoselevitz, a famous Mexican businessman and chemical engineer, is best known for his contribution to developing the leather tanning industry.

Further, her mother, Annie Pardo Cemo, is a Mexican cell biologist specializing in extracellular matrix.

Annie received the National Prize for Arts and Sciences as a member of the SNI (Sistema Nacional de Investigadores).

The 61-year-old scientist Claudia shares a close bond with her parents, who play a vital role in her successful career.

Claudia Sheinbaum’s both father and mother were born to a Jewish family

Claudia Sheinbaum comes from a very deep Jew-rooted family where her father, Carlos Sheinbaum Yoselevitz, was born to Ashkenazi Jewish parents, and her mother, Annie Pardo Cemo’s family was Sephardic Jewish.

Her father’s parents immigrated from Lithuania to Mexico City in the 1920s, and her mother’s parents emigrated from Sofia, Bulgaria.

Annie’s parents moved to Mexico during World War II in the 1940s to escape the Holocaust.

Having deep Jew roots, Claudia Sheinbaum, her sister Adriana, and her brother Julio grandly celebrate Jewish holidays at their grandparents’ homes.

Carlos and Annie received higher education from prestigious universities

A cell biologist, Annie Pardo Cemo, received a biology bachelor’s degree from the National Autonomous University of Mexico.

Similalry, from the same universities, she earned Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Biochemistry.

After completing her education, she went to the USA and conducted her research at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, and the University of Illinois, Chicago.

Mentioning a few of her accolades, she was awarded the National Prize for Arts and Sciences in physical-mathematical and natural sciences for her biochemistry, aging, and lung-related diseases research.

However, naming the controversies she was involved in, her names were also mentioned in the Panama Paper leaks.

On the other hand, Carlos received a degree in chemical engineering from the National School of Chemical Sciences.

After completing his education, he started working in a related field and later established Sintacrom de México, a leather tanning industry.

Carlos passed away in September 2013 in Mexico City at the age of 80 after a successful life that might have earned him a good living.
