The joke that Charles Leclerc and Oscar Piastri are related as ‘father-son’ or ‘Leclerc brothers’ stemmed from the latter’s caption that he is searching for his family roots in Monégasque, Charles’s hometown, for support from locals during the Monaco Grand Prix.
As the only player from Monaco, Charles Leclerc joined the irony and mentioned that he would be happy to adopt the Australian racer Oscar Piastri in his family.

Following the news, memes started to take over Twitter, with the highest views gained by the Tweet of Formula 1, in which they listed Oscar Piastri’s name as Oscar Piastri-Leclerc during F1 practice classification.
Later, Oscar’s mother, Nicole Piastri, joined the banter and even involved Yuki Tsunoda, P8, in the recent Monaco Grand Prix, saying she is proud of her boys.
The fiasco between Charles Leclerc and Oscar Piastri has become one of the most hilarious memes of the century, but this all is a sarcastic way for the racers to bring fun to the game, and it is for sure that they are not related.
The family tree of Oscar Piastri and Charles Leclerc confirms that the two front-row racers are not related
Charles Leclerc reserved his name as the winner of the 2024 season from his home grand prix, Monaco, where he was born to parents, father Hervé Leclerc and mother Pascale Leclerc, on October 16, 1997, making him 27 years old.
He was raised as the middle child of his family, with his elder brother Lorenzo Tolotta-Leclerc and his younger brother Arthur, a Monégasque racing driver.

The real Leclarc brothers were raised by their racer dad, Herve, who was a Formula 3 car racer in the 1980s and 1990s. However, he passed away in 2017 due to an illness.
Meanwhile, Charles belongs to Monégasque roots, being born in Monte Carlo, Monaco, and does not keep himself bound to any particular religion.
On the other hand, Oscar Piastri is 23 years old Australian racing driver, born in Melbourne, Victoria, on April 6, 2001 to parents, mother Nicole Piastri and father Chris Piastri.
His father, Chris, served as his son’s mechanic and left his family to support Oscar in his racing career while shifting to Europe.
Later, Chris founded a diagnostics automotive software company, HP Turners, and is its owner.
Meanwhile, Oscar grew up alongside his three sisters and holds a multi-cultural heritage. Oscar Piastri is 1/6th Chinese, as his great-great-grandfather was Chinese and has Italian and Yugoslavian roots.
So, if we were to compare all the family details of Charles Leclerc and Oscar Piastri, other than their father’s support in their career, none of the details indicate a connection between them.
Yet, the racers have not stopped confusing their fans as Oscar continues his puns through his tweets like “Good day for the Leclerc family,” and Charles is nowhere behind as he continues the replies to Oscar’s tweets.
