Georgia native Will Moseley secured the first-runner position in the American Idol season 22 while making his parents proud.
For his last performance, he selected three songs: Bon Jovi’s It’s My Life, My Town by Montgomery Gentry and his original song, Good Book Bad.
After his performance, judge Katy Perry said, “You’ll be a star no matter what,” while Luke Bryan commented, “The ball is in your court.“
On Sunday night’s (May 19, 2024) American Idol finale, Will Moseley competed against the two great finalists, pop/rock singer Abi Carter of Indio, California, and Folk singer Jack Blocker from Dallas, Texas.
Will Moseley came in second behind Abi Carter, while Jack Blocker secured the third position.
The interesting thing is that it’s the second year in a row that Georgia has had the first runner-up. In last year’s American Idol season, Megan Danielle from Douglasville, Georgia, also came in second place.
Will Moseley says football was his first priority before realizing his singing talent
The 23-year-old singer Will Moseley did not start his music career until college, as he was unaware of his talent.
Prior to his singing career, he played college football at Maryville. However, after two years of playing, he quit due to repeated concussions.
In an interview from April 2024, Moseley stated he got into music when he was trying to learn guitar, and one of his friends suggested, “If you sing, it will help your rhythm playing guitar.”
He said, “Football ended for me and that’s where I really picked up the guitar and started learning to play. It’s been a blessing in disguise.”
He slowly started singing songs while learning guitar during his time at Maryville College in Tennessee.
However, his singing skills improved astonishingly when he joined Georgia Southern University. His friends often admired his voice and used to make him sing all the time.
After graduating with a biology degree, he gave himself one year to pursue a music career.
American Idol contestant Will Moseley also got support from his parents, mother, Sheila Moseley, and father, Todd Moseley.
With parents by his side, Will Moseley went the extra mile to follow his dream and started writing his own songs.
His original song, Gone For Good, which he sang during the 2024 American Idol audition, reached No. 13 on the Billboard country charts.
