On June 5, 2024, Julia Haener announced her retirement from the anchor desk. During the KTVU broadcast, with her two colleagues by her side, she professed, “It’s hard to say it, but I have decided that I’m going to end my career here at KTVU.”

Julia has been serving in the field for 27 years. Suddenly, when she broke her decision to step down as an anchor to the public on air on Tuesday, many appeared to link that with some probable illness. But it’s absolutely not true.

Julia clearly stated that her desire to be with a family now is the only reason for her retirement decision.

Further, she also expressed her happiness at being able to work as an anchor for all these years. Julia said she was glad to have that opportunity, which she considers once in a lifetime. Well, June 20th will be her last day at KTVU.

Not now, but Julie Haener once had a serious abdominal problem for which she had to undergo emergency surgery

On August 30, 2015, Julie Haener took to her Twitter to inform that she had been in the hospital for four days.

Posting her picture in the hospital bed, she wrote, “4th day in the hospital and feeling better after emergency surgery on the small intestine. Thanks, sweet nurses Jen & JoAnna!.”

Later, in October, Julie Haener detailed about her illness, sharing a post on her Facebook. She said that she had a blockage on her small intestine, which created a crisis situation for her. So she had emergency surgery.

After that, it took Julia five weeks to get out of bed and do her things on her own. However, there were still problems with her digestive system, for which she visited a Gastroenterologist at California Pacific Medical Center multiple times.

As Julia mentioned, her husband and son did their best to take care of her in such a difficult situation.
