Social media posts have confirmed the untimely passing of renowned Nigerian Islamic singer Rukayat Gawat, who was around age 30.

Rukayat Gawat, born Rukayat Gawat Oyefeso, was famous in the Muslim community for her enchanting voice and spiritual and religious songs, and her passing has become a huge loss for the community.

Many of the Nigerian and Muslim community people were heartbroken after hearing about the sudden passing of Rukayat Gawat, as they are sharing emotional posts on social media sites.

An online news media site, Oyo Affairs, paid tribute to the singer while announcing her demise:

Renowned Nigerian Islamic singer Rukayat Gawat Oyefeso has passed away. She was famous for her captivating voice and religious songs, which resonated with many in the Muslim community. May Allah grant her Jannatul-Firdaus and forgive her sins.

Rukayat Gawat’s spirituality and love for Islamic music inspire many people!

Born and raised in the Isale-Eko area of Lagos State, Rukayat Gawat was a religious person from an early age.

Growing up, Rukayat Gawat was captivated by Islamic music when she attended Islamic forums as a youthful Islamic singer.

Due to her enchanting singing skills, many Islamic society groups used to request her to perform in their religious programs.

Further, according to her interviews, she started singing professionally in around 2015. Throughout the years, she has released albums such as Imole, My Father, Aye Le, and Ogbe Okan.

Moreover, she has also featured around 20 Islamic musicians and Nollywood actors in her songs, such as Agbokol’ori, Arinakore, Iyawo Obun, Ramadan Kareem, Odun Ayo ft Sefiu Alao, Temitope, and Ogo TunTun.

As Rukayat Gawat has been making religious music for a long time, she shares that many people have the misconception that Islamic music is boring.

To change people’s perspectives about Islamic music, Rukayat Gawat started trying to bring innovations and fresh ideas to make the songs more interesting.

Further, after collaborating with secular music practitioners and blending different genres, she used to make her music highly creative, which fans enjoyed very much.

She shares the reason behind the popularity of her songs, claiming she has taken the lesson from the Holy Quran.
