The NBC special program honored the American country music singer, songwriter, and record producer Toby Keith, drawing attention to his bond with his family, including his sister, who lives in Oklahoma.
Tonni Karan Covel-Moore, aged 60, is Toby Keith’s younger sister who lived with the singer for most of their early childhood in their family house in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Moreover, Covel attended Keith’s last rituals in a private ceremony and requested fans to make donations to the Toby Keith Foundation to support cancer patients and their families.
Besides such information, Toby Keith or his family members have not made much about his sister public. She likes to maintain a private life away from the cameras and didn’t attend the singer’s tribute show.
On the other hand, Keith’s other sibling, Tracy Covel, often shares about his bond with his late brother and father. His Facebook profile revealed that Tracy was a pastor and father of three children.
Likewise, he accompanied the country singer on stage once for a performance dedicated to his family, and fans claimed that the siblings looked similar, given their posture and facial features.
In one of his earlier posts, Tracy dedicated a paragraph to his father, who served in the army: “He taught us kids to love and respect America, to value our freedom, and to understand the cost and sacrifice of that freedom. He taught us to work hard and to stand up, and fight for what’s right and what we believe in.“
Toby Keith and his siblings had to bear the demise of their father after a deadly car crash!
Keith often played alongside his siblings at his grandmother’s supper club and later attended Moore High School before working his way up to become an operation manager.
However, the industry’s decline resulted in unemployment, which opened new paths for Kei, a standby singer. He always shared a passion for the industry and genre.
Ultimately, the singer started rising above the ranks with his records, including How Do You Like Me Now?!, Country Comes to Town, You Shouldn’t Kiss Me Like This, and I Wanna Talk About Me.
Unfortunately, in 2001, Keith’s father, H.K. Covel, had an accident when a charter bus collided with his car on an Interstate Highway.
The news broke the family as the singer even wrote a song to describe the incomparable loss after the State offered them $2.8 million for wrongful death.
Regardless of the incident, Keith and his siblings didn’t lose hope in life. They excelled at their respective careers and maintained a respectable status in society.
As for Keith, he continued to make music for several years and marked his show at the Las Vegas Park MGM as his final performance. He also had a career in TV and films with appearances in Broken Bridges, Beer for My Horses, and Huckabee.
Keith’s outstanding career and lifestyle came to an end at the age of 62 due to stomach cancer, which the doctors initially diagnosed in June 2022 after the singer underwent chemotherapy and emergency surgery.
