Ismail Haniyeh, a Palestinian politician and chief political leader of Hamas, was recently assassinated on July 31, 2024, Wednesday, in Tehran, Iran, while attending the inauguration ceremony of new president Masoud Pezeshkian.
According to the Hamas group, Haniyeh’s demise was the result of the treacherous Zionist raid on his residence in Tehran. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps confirmed the demise of Haniyeh along with his bodyguards at their residence, and further investigation is ongoing.
The hunt for Hamas’ leadership has been ongoing since the group attacked Israel from the neighboring Gaza Strip, which involved the tragic demise of 1200 people and the abduction of around 250 people.
Likewise, Senior government official Amihai Eliyahu said in a Twitter post that Ismail’s demise makes the world a little better. He added, ” This is the right way to clean the world from this filth.”
In response to Haniyeh’s demise, Hamas official Moussa Abu Marzouk said on Al Arabiya TV, ” Assassinating Ismail Haniyeh is a cowardly act and will not go unpunished.”
Moreover, Ismail Haniyeh’s political involvement amassed a significant net worth of more than 4 million as of 2024.

A post by Israel’s Embassy in the United States stated that while Gazans are not being able to fulfill their basic needs, Hamas uses aid and funds to line their own pockets revealing the net worth of several leaders of Hamas including Ismail Haiyeh.
According to reports,Ismail Haniyeh along with other Hamas leaders accumulated wealth from imposing high taxes on smuggled goods, construction of tunnels as well as its own investment portfolio worth at least $500 million.
Additionally, the group’s involvement in cyrptocurrencies increased their wealth making them second richest terror groups after the Islamic state.
They also accumulated their wealth from international donors where instead of using the donation funds in infrastructural activties the Hamas group divide the money among themself.
Furthermore, according to a CNN report ,U.S. Justice department is actively investigating the group’s use of cryptocurrecy and several organizations and nations are also tracking down the total assets of Hamas group including Ismail’s assets.
Ismail Haniyeh’s luxurious life also made people assume that he was accumulating his wealth from several illegal activities. Some also believe that Ismail accumulated it from his family legacy while other says he earned easy money from oil of Iran.

- Ismail Haniyeh was born in the al-shati refugee camp in the Egyptian-occupied Gaza Strip in May 8, 1963 to a Muslim Palestinian parents . He earned a bachelor’s degree in Arabic literature from Islamic University of Gaza. He was a midfielder in the Islamic Association Football team.
