American gymnast Jade Ashtyn Carey has not specifically dropped any hints or statements that she is Jewish or follows any other religion. However, representatives of Jade Carey allegedly reported that she is not Jewish.
The athlete’s stepgrandfather, Oscar Szmuch, is a resident of the Los Angeles Jewish Home, and her stepmother, Orley, is also of Jewish heritage.
Meanwhile, there are no sources online that confirm the Jewish heritage of her parents, Danielle Mitchell-Greenberg and Brian Carey.
Even though she does celebrate Christmas, it would be inconclusive to say that she is Christian, as most secular Americans partake in the festival.
Further, Jade herself has not spoken publicly about her culture and religion and has kept her faith and beliefs private.
Jade Carey has garnered attention at the Olympics as a representative of the Jewish community!
The 2024 Olympic gymnast team has gained a lot of attention due to the athletes’ diverse backgrounds.
Gymnasts Simone Biles, Jordan Chiles, Sunisa Lee, and Hezly Rivera are all from different ethnic backgrounds, including Jade Cary, who has a Jewish heritage from her stepmother’s side.
However, in Sunday’s qualifying session, Carey did not seem to be in her best condition. She said it was not due to nerves but sickness.
To the Olympics, she said, “I just have not been feeling well the past few days and haven’t been able to eat or anything.”
Jade Carey further added that she just wanted people to know so that they know there isn’t actually something wrong.
During her floor routine, she made several mistakes and finished last out of all floor competitors. However, she recovered from it and was on the vault final alongside Simone Biles.
Being a former Olympic champion and a renowned participant in the Paris Olympics, Carey is a gymnast that most people seem to be looking upon as a Jewish representation in the sport.
Despite many of these speculations, Jade Carey has not spoken on the subject of her being Jewish or not.
