Gretchen Esther Whitmer, Michigan’s 49th Governor since 2019, has hardly talked about her religious affiliation; however, it has been known that she personally follows Christianity.

A Washington research group, National Journal, mentioned the ‘Christian Church’ as Gretchen Whitmer’s religion, which is actually true.

On December 25, 2018, Gretchen shared her family picture on Facebook, writing, “Celebrating our last Christmas at our home for the last 15 years. Bittersweet but wonderful. Merry Christmas.” Well, the caption speaks volumes about Gretchen’s Christian background.

While saying that, it’s equally significant to say that Gretchen is not a Christian fundamentalist, given that she is unhesitant to treat every religious group, either Muslim, Hindu, or Jewish, equally.

Gretchen Whitmer once organized the Iftar party at her residence during Ramadan!

On May 11, 2019, Gretchen Whitmer shared several pictures on her Facebook page, stating that she and her family hosted Iftar at her residence during Ramadan month.

Though the commentary section was full of hateful comments, the pictures she shared displayed her harmonious relations with the Muslim community, which eventually displayed her compassion and respect for other religious communities besides Christianity.

She has also maintained good relationships with the Hindu and Jewish people, as she often posts celebratory messages during the special occasions of each religious group.

On April 20, 2019, she wished Jewish people a Happy Passover, writing, “Chag Pesach Sameach to all who are celebrating the start of Passover tonight!

Likewise, she has also wished ‘Happy Diwali’ to the Hindu community of Michigan State. This clearly exhibits Gretchen Whitmer’s progressive thoughts regarding religion.
