I was at the tender age of 13 when I purchased the Doggystyle album from Columbia House back in 1993. I remember playing it on my Sony Discman for about 3 months straight every day after school. Every once in a while, I’d come home from school only to find my mom playing the album in the living room. That’s what made Doggystyle a staple in Hip Hop classics. It was loved by people of all ages and race groups.
To celebrate it’s 20th anniversary, Snoop Dogg himself has released a mix featuring all the samples used to make the album. Also check out the hilarious video of Snoop and Daz Dillinger at the header introducing the mix.
November 23rd marks the 20th Anniversary of Snoop Dogg’s highly-acclaimed Doggystyle, in which his lyrical realism and distinctive vocal flow forever changed hip-hop and helped define the genre into what it is today.
In honor of this date, Snoop has created an enticing mixtape of the samples used on Doggystyle. Never done before, Snoop offers exclusive commentary about each song and the behind-the-scenes stories that went on during the making of the historic record. The mixtape offers fans a once-in-a-lifetime experience to hear first-hand, the creative process behind the record.
