LIFELIKE is one of the most exciting French dance artists in a generation – and let’s face it, France has had a few. An uncompromising figure who has rarely – if ever – courted media attention, his almost subterranean profile has seen him maintain his position as the archetypal hipster’s choice, from BBC Radio 1’s specialist shows to the world’s biggest blogs.
The man behind classic cuts including ‘Black Chess’ ‘Discopolis’ (with Kris Menace), ‘So Electric’, and his last single, ‘Getting High’ on Computer Science with ex-Kitsuné artist Popular Computer, has previously released on seminal labels including three singles on Alan Braxe’s Vulture, Wall Of Sound, 20000ST, Work-It-Baby. Though part of an extended musical family that includes Braxe, Kitsuné, Justice, Daft Punk, and Ed Banger’s Pedro Winter, Laurent has always occupied a unique position at the vanguard of the French electronic movement.
