Pop Culture Roundup 47
by TeemunnyPublished on Saturday, January 19, 2013
We don’t think Mittens Rombot would appreciate this PCR much. It’s the 47th edition of the Pop Culture Roundup, Girls and Boys.
Although we have a cavalcade of trailers for you this week, it seems as if it’s slow on the tentpole movie front. Although, one film that has been gaining considerable buzz since its inception, at the beginning of last summer, is Spring Breakers (movie site). The film was made by Harmony Korine, the counterculture avant-garde-lite writer/director who wrote Kids and directed the bizarre Gummo. Spring Breakers follows four college girls (Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson, Rachel Korine) who land in jail after their spring break partying gets out of hand in Florida. They find themselves bailed out by a local Riff Raff-esque rapper and drug dealer (James Franco) who takes them under his wing.
It’s a quartet of college girls, gone bad in Florida, and in over their heads. Sounds titillating; count us in. Watch the trailer at the header, pics are below.
