Soundsystem: Mama Told Me / Big Boi feat. Little Dragon

Peacefrog? Unpeaceful. Little Dragon were still under contract with Peacefrog when we recorded. When they left that label and went to Universal I guess there was some bad blood going on between them two. So I guess Peacefrog felt like this was the last Little Dragon check they were gonna get. So they come in to my song that was already done and try to hijack my whole song. And I’m like, Helllll no. Wait a fucking minute! This shit is unheard of. They trying to rape me for my record that I already have. I still have that version though. You know me, I love the fans. Don’t try to tell me I can’t put it out. You know how shit leak around. -Big Boi via
DOWNLOAD the song, Mama Told Me, the catchy pop-hip-hop track by Big Boi featuring Little Dragon. This is the alleged original version of Mama Told Me, the Big Boi and Little Dragon collaboration that was nixed from BB’s upcoming album Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors. Because of record industry politics and bidness, Kelly Rowland ended up replacing Little Dragon’s Yukimi Nagano, who co-wrote the track. The version with Rowland (below) will appear on the album instead.
Also, check out both of the live performances of the song. The vitaminwater + FADER uncapped performance, which took place in August in Austin, and their recent (last Friday, December 7th) rendition on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
Gotta love Big Boi’s loyalty to leak this track and make it a point to perform with her (Nagano). By the way, we want an Outkast reunion. We’re not feeling André 3000‘s acting career.
Mama Told Me was produced by Atlanta’s The Flush.
