To close off the year, we would like to feature our Top 25 Soundsystem hits of the year. So without further ado, here we go!

1. Used / Fake Blood

Probably the most impressive compilation and/or collection of sampled music I’ve ever heard. As a young kid, I was always interested in the samples that were used in the hip hop game. We found a very good amount of them. Not necessarily from the most popular hip hop hits, but most definitely from some of the best.

2. The Lazy Sunday Selecta / Breakbot

I’ve always thought of Breakbot as one of the most underrated DJs in the game. As a big fan of disco and ’70s / ’80s hit records, I’ve always been taken back by the way Breakbot manages to add his own innovative twist and make amazing mixes out of them. This was the perfect Summer 2011 mixtape.

3. When the Night Falls [Breakbot Remix] / Chromeo

As if this Chromeo track wasn’t already on point, Breakbot comes in and takes it to the next level. This was one of the best Summer jams of 2011.

4. Thinking About You / Frank Ocean

One of our favorite tracks to gush about. Thinking About You, by Frank Ocean makes us fall in love with R&B.

5. Eyes Be Closed / Washed Out

In terms of chill wave, this track probably takes the cake for being the best one. We’re digging it to the max.

6. Love What Happened Here / James Blake

One of our favorite tracks to gush about of the year. With the Holidays in mind.

7. Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming / M83

M83 back with a vengeance. Sweet stuff right here with an incredible music video to go along with it.

8. Champagne Coast / Blood Orange

The title fits the song perfectly. This could be the best songs I’ve heard all year. Blood Orange is just too smooth for his own good.

9. Thursday / The Weeknd

The Weeknd came out of nowhere, putting out an impressive trilogy mix tape. I’ve always thought of R&B to be nothing but serious cheese, but The Weeknd puts out each song in a tasteful way.

10. Essential Mix / Jamie xx

As a big mixtape fan, I’ve found that the best one are always less then an hour. This mix right here just blows my mind. The more I listen to it, the better it gets.

11. How Deep Is Your Love / The Rapture

I first heard this song over the summer on Busy P‘s set at Hard Summer, or was it Carte Blanche‘s set? Not sure. But every time I hear it, it reminds me of DJ Mehdi. RIP.

12. Blacks / Dawn Golden and Rosy Cross

Probably one of the best songs I’ve heard all year from Mad Decent Records. An unexpected tune.

13. Fugazi x Wu-Tang / Wugazi

A good mash up is always hard to find. Especially one that features two complete opposites. I havent heard anything this good, since The Grey Album.

14. The Suburbs (Arcade Fire Cover) / Mr Little Jeans

A great and audibly addicting cover to an already great and classic song.

15. Nate Dogg in ’08 Mix / DJ Steve1der

With the passing of a legend, a mixtape surfaced on the web featuring Nate Dogg‘s most well known hits. This mix is a classic.

16. Love Never Dies / Caspa & Mr Hudson

A song that will always remind you of your ex-girlfriend and the good times you had. One of my favorite dubstep remixes of the year.

17. JJJ Mix Up Exclusives / Sebastian

Sebastian resurfaced from being MIA and hit us hard with this mix.

18. Scenery / Louis La Roche

Louis La Roche outdoes himself with this 3-part mixtape. He keeps each one short and sweet without releasing a track list leaves you with nothing but the mix as it speaks for itself.

19. Dumbin’ (featuring Reggie B) / Star Slinger

I think this is probably the most underrated song of the year. Star Slinger is definitely an up-and-coming DJ and producer.

20. Civilization / Justice

After patiently waiting and anticipating, Justice hits us with a classic song.

21. Something About Us (Cherokee Remix) / Daft Punk

You can never mess with Daft Punk, especially if you ever try to remix any of their hits. But I’ve got to give credit to Cherokee for pulling this one off tastefully and memorably.

22. Anything New / Bibio

Man I love this stuff. Makes me feel all happy inside. I also like to sing along to the music, not the lyrics.

23. Flashlight / Syd Tha Kyd (featuring Lux)

From one the most mature and civilized members of OFWGKTASyd Tha Kyd introduces herself with this beautifully composed song.

24. Mystery / Hodgy Beats (OFWGKTA)

Quality Hip Hop is hard to come across these days. But this song, man, pure bliss!

25. Breathe on my Contacts / TOKiMONSTA

TOKiMONSTA goes real hard with this track. A cover of Télépopmusik’s Breathe. Hard to pull off, but well played.

Hope you’ve enjoyed this as much as we have this year.
