Paris and London-based firm Matteo Cainer Architects received an honorable mention for their proposal for the Busan Opera House International Design competition for Busan, South Korea. Located at the north port, the building is meant to serve as a performing arts center with theaters for operas, concerts and other art-related activities. The building is designed to stand as a landmark symbolizing Busan’s rise as a world class tourism center. The green space provides a venue for artists and performers to display their craft, as well as a place for the public to meet, congregate and enjoy their natural surroundings. The area surrounding the facility provides the public with picturesque views of both the ocean and the Busan cityscape.
