Here is a proposal for a150,000 square foot exhibition center in Guzhen, China, designed by young Turkish-German architect Volkan Alkanoglu. Alkanoglu a designer with an international background has collaborated with offices, Future Systems, Asymptote, Foster + Partners. He is currently full time faculty for design studios for Graduate and Undergraduate studies at Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc).
The concept of the Guzhen Exhibition Center in China is based on light and illumination effects. Guzhen is traditionally known for lighting design and the exhibition center will mainly be used to showcase manufacturers of this discipline. The large interior space is divided into a functional floor grid, while the roof playfully delineates towards a more dynamic organization. During the night, the roof illuminates into several color shades showcasing the tradition of Guzhen light industry.
